Alverno girls are prepared. They have studied hard and are excited to learn more. They have secured a wonderful mentor, Samuel Clamons, a graduate student from Caltech, who was the co-captain of William and Mary's iGEM team in 2014, and the kind support of Professor Richard Murray, mentor of the Caltech 2014 iGEM team, who has generously offered to provide lab space and equipment for the Alverno team.

budget and expenses
Total budget: $20K
Registration Fee: $5,000 was raised to register for iGEM ( which provides the team with a team wiki, associated materials and support, one presentation slot at the iGEM synthetic biology conference (Giant Jamboree), and one poster location at the Giant Jamboree)
Lab Equipment Investment: We are requesting $5,000 for materials and equipment needed to perform the lab processes, such as 10 mg weigh scale, low-temp mini freezer, primers, taq polymerase, ligases, competent cells, agar, LB broth mix, PCR master mixes, LCMS supplies, DNA sequences, micropipette tips, petri dishes, inoculating loops, microfuge tubes, PCR tubes, culture tubes, etc. (based on Caltech iGEM team 2014)
Attendance Fee for each Giant Jamboree Attendee (October 27-31, 2016, Hynes Convention Center, Boston, MA): $695 funded by individual students' families, except in cases of financial hardship.
Travel Costs per attendee: ~$1500 (based on Caltech iGEM 2014 team budget) to be funded by individual students' families, except in cases of financial hardship.
Our goal is to send at least 8 students, one Head Coach and one PI to the Giant Jamboree.
